All the tools on this page are in My Account under Safer Gambling. Anything that makes your limits tighter works straight away. Anything that loosens them waits 24 hours, so the decision isn't made in the moment.
Warning signs
It may be time to step back if you notice any of these:
- You spend more money or time than you planned, more often than not.
- You bet to win back what you have lost.
- You borrow money, or use money meant for bills, to gamble.
- You hide how much you gamble from people close to you.
- You feel anxious, irritable or low when you can't gamble, or after you have.
If one of those sounds familiar, set a limit or take a break now, while it is easy. You don't need to explain why.
Deposit limits
Cap how much you can deposit per day, week or month. You can set all three. Deposit requests that would take you over the limit are refused and we tell you how much is left for that period.
Loss limits
Cap how much you can lose per day, week or month across sports and casino together. Loss is what you staked minus what you won back. When you reach it, you can't place more bets or start more games until the period resets.
Net deposit limits
A monthly cap on deposits minus completed withdrawals. It stops a win from being paid out and then deposited straight back in beyond what you had planned.
Time-out
Take a break of 24 hours, 7, 14 or 30 days, or 6 weeks. Your account is locked for that time and you can't cancel it early. You can still withdraw by emailing us. Marketing stops for the length of the break.
Self-exclusion
For a longer break: 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 5 years. The account is closed for the whole period and can't be reopened early, even if you ask. We won't send you marketing, and we will return any balance to you. When the period ends, the account stays closed until you contact us and ask to reopen it, after a cooling-off period of at least one day.
Self-excluding from BetTOM does not block other gambling sites. For that, use GAMSTOP.
GAMSTOP
GAMSTOP is a free scheme that lets you self-exclude from all gambling websites and apps licensed in Great Britain in one go, BetTOM included. It takes a few minutes to register and you choose 6 months, 1 year or 5 years.
Closing your account
If you just don't want to use BetTOM any more, close the account from My Account. Withdraw any balance first. Closing is not the same as self-exclusion: a closed account can be reopened by contacting us. If you are closing because of how gambling is affecting you, use self-exclusion instead.
Keeping track of your activity
My Account shows everything you have done: every bet, every casino round, every deposit and withdrawal, with dates and amounts. The overview shows your deposits for the last 30 days. You can also switch on reality checks, a reminder that pops up every 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes to tell you how long you have been logged in.
We also watch for patterns that can point to harm, such as a sharp rise in deposits or play late at night, and we may get in touch or add restrictions.
