Betting rules

These rules form part of our Terms and Conditions. Where a rule for a specific market is shown on that market, it takes priority over the general rules below.

Last updated 17 September 2026

1. Odds

1.1 Prices are shown as fractions (for example 5/2) or decimals (3.50), whichever you choose in the Bet Slip. They mean the same thing and settle the same way.

1.2 The price that applies to your bet is the one shown when we accept it. Prices on the site change often, particularly in play.

1.3 Returns include your stake. A winning £10 single at 5/2 returns £35.

2. Stakes

2.1 The minimum stake is £0.10 per bet. The maximum stake is £10,000.00 per bet, and may be lower on some markets. If a stake is above the limit for that market, the Bet Slip tells you before the bet is placed.

2.2 A stake is taken from your balance when the bet is accepted. You cannot bet more than your available balance.

2.3 We may limit the stake on any market, event or account.

3. Acceptance of bets

3.1 A bet is only accepted when it appears in My Bets with a bet reference and the status Open. A bet shown as Awaiting acceptance has not yet been accepted.

3.2 We will not accept a bet if: your account is not verified; your balance doesn't cover the stake; the event has started (other than in-play markets); the market is suspended; or placing it would breach a limit you have set.

3.3 We may refuse all or part of any bet without giving a reason.

3.4 Once accepted, a bet cannot be cancelled or changed by you.

4. The Bet Slip

4.1 Selections are added to the Bet Slip by tapping a price. You can remove any selection or change any stake until you confirm.

4.2 If a price changes between adding a selection and placing the bet, the Bet Slip shows the old price crossed out and the new price beside it. The bet is not placed until you accept the new price, unless you have chosen to accept price changes automatically.

4.3 Multiples (doubles, trebles and accumulators) can only combine one selection from each event. Selections whose outcomes depend on each other cannot be combined.

4.4 A potential return shown on the Bet Slip is a guide. Settlement follows these rules, including any deductions, voids and maximum payouts.

5. Settlement

5.1 Bets are settled on the official result declared by the relevant governing body, or by the source we name for that market, at the end of the event.

5.2 Football markets are settled on 90 minutes plus stoppage time, and do not include extra time or penalties unless the market says so.

5.3 Later changes to a result, for example after an appeal or a disqualification, do not change settlement, unless the change is made before the result is declared official.

5.4 In a multiple, returns from each leg roll on to the next. If any leg loses, the multiple loses.

5.5 If we settle a bet wrongly, we will correct it. Winnings paid in error may be taken back from your balance.

5.6 Settled bets move from Open Bets to Settled Bets in My Account, showing the result and return.

6. Cash Out

6.1 Cash Out is not offered on bettom.co at present. If we introduce it, the rules will be added here before the feature goes live.

7. Suspended markets

7.1 We may suspend any market at any time, for example while something that affects the outcome is happening or being reviewed. You cannot place bets on a suspended market.

7.2 Bets already accepted on a market before it was suspended stand.

8. Cancelled and postponed events

8.1 If an event is cancelled, or postponed and not played within 48 hours of the original start time, bets on it are void unless the outcome was already decided.

8.2 If the venue changes, bets stand unless the match is moved to the away team's ground, in which case they are void.

9. Void bets

9.1 A void bet is settled as if it had never been placed. The stake is returned.

9.2 In a multiple, a void leg is removed and the rest of the bet stands with the remaining legs. A double with a void leg becomes a single.

9.3 Bets are void if the participant you backed does not take part in the event, unless the market states that all bets stand.

10. Abandoned events

10.1 If an event is abandoned, markets whose outcome was already decided when play stopped are settled. All other bets are void, unless the event is resumed and completed within 48 hours.

10.2 In tennis, if a player retires or is disqualified, match bets are void unless at least one set has been completed. Set and game markets already decided are settled.

10.3 In darts, snooker and table tennis, if a match is not completed, bets are void except on markets already decided.

11. Errors

11.1 Mistakes happen. If a bet is accepted at a price, line or handicap that is clearly wrong (a palpable error), or after the event has started for a pre-match market, or after the result is known, we may settle the bet at the correct price or make it void. We will tell you if we do.

11.2 If a technical fault stops a bet being recorded properly, the bet is void.

12. Maximum payouts

12.1 The most we will pay out to one customer in a single day, across all their bets, is set out below. Any return above that is not paid.

Sport or marketMaximum payout
Football: Premier League, Champions League, major European leagues£250,000
Horse racing: UK and Irish meetings£250,000
Football: other competitions; tennis£100,000
Darts, basketball, MMA, snooker, rugby, cricket£50,000
Table tennis and all other sports£25,000
All in-play markets£50,000

12.2 Where a multiple includes legs with different maximums, the lowest applies.

13. Horse racing

13.1 Bets are settled on the result at the time of the "weighed in" announcement. Stewards' inquiries resolved before that are taken into account; later appeals are not.

13.2 Non-runners: bets on a horse that doesn't run are void and the stake is returned.

13.3 Rule 4: if a horse is withdrawn after the market has formed and there isn't time to re-form it, winning bets on the rest of the field are reduced by a deduction based on the withdrawn horse's price at the time. The deduction applies to bets struck before the withdrawal.

13.4 Dead heats: when two or more horses finish level, the stake is divided by the number of horses in the dead heat and settled at full odds on each part.

13.5 Void races: if a race is declared void or abandoned, all bets on it are void.

14. In-play betting

14.1 In-play prices can change very quickly. The price that counts is the one at the moment we accept the bet.

14.2 Scores, clocks and statistics shown on the site are for guidance and may be delayed. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on them.

14.3 In-play bets may be subject to a short delay before acceptance. If something affecting the market happens during that delay, the bet may be refused.

14.4 In football, "next goal" and time-based markets are settled on the time recorded by the official source, not the clock shown on our pages.
